Stuff I Need - 1

It is a very strange thing, and I wonder if it happens to others, but when my mind is concentrating on 'something' then everything that pertains to that 'something' comes to me.

For instance at the moment I am 90% consumed with getting my story finished and so everything pertaining to writing and achieving this is coming into my life.

BUT

I want, and NEED, to get back to creating my miniature models and because my mind is not wholy and solely concentrating on it NOTHING is coming my way in advantages and especially things/stuff that I NEED to create my models and so I am buying bits when ever I can.

My main haunt is the Charity Shops. As you can remember I was needing MOSS. I started taking soft toys apart (which I much admit gave me an odd feeling) so I stopped. Plus my daughter said "You can't do that! Its a Teddy Bear!"
I then was able to find three different coloured wool and a dark brown fluffy cushion. Combined I should be able to do something with them.

I've found things made out of beads, wooden and other. Fabric samplers with the stand that was used to hold them. This is going to be great as I'm going to paint it black and but up a sign on the top and create a hanging house that will fit within it. I will be able to use it as small displays.

I'm hoping that when I can get my mind back onto my models the energies of this earth will bring things/stuff to me because without it I can't build my models.

Using 'Vines' to Hold the Wires for a Hanging House

While I was a the Gold Coast Show 2012 I also started the lighting for the hanging house. As you can see by the photo I placed different size clear plastic tubing over the model so I can get a clear understanding of where I wanted the lights to be located.

I have a large piece of pipe as the main 'stem'. Once I had worked out where I want to join smaller pipes I then glue them together using silicon and wrap a strip of suitable fabric around the joins. These I then tie in place. The fabric I have used has a 'bark' feeling to it.


This is the completed stem of the 'vine' ready for painting. It will allow me to have seven lights. Some of those lights can, 'if I wish', go inside the model for the rooms. If I don't wish and I just allow them to be flowers then I can put another 'vine' over it especially for the lights of the rooms.

Lights in Archibald's General Store

When I am at the Gold Coast Show I like to do something. I am there for three days and as I am not one for just sitting around doing nothing. I make 'something'. Last year I started changing the lights in Archibald's General Store to LED's. I only achieved half of them with the help of a man who was manning the miniature trains.

Over the last few days I have been working on the other half of the General Store. I am also cleaning the model and 'locking' it up. This is where I put plastic over the front of the open rooms to stop the dust from getting in.

Here you can see the wires that I have attached to the little light shades that are hanging from the beams just above the stairs.

These are those same wires that have now been pushed through plastic tubing (to keep them neat and together). I have then labeled each wire just in-case the lights blow I will know who is who.

Adding More Lights to the Hanging House

 Spurred on by my visit to the Modern Art Gallery of Qld to see the display 'We Miss You Magic Land' and the fact that my book is being reviewed at the moment so I am at a loose end and bored I have decided to add more lights to one of my hanging houses. Below is the first house I'm adding more lights to.
